Renewables and New Businesses

The Renewables and New Businesses unit develops a competitive and sustainable renewable energy portfolio in the Iberian Peninsula. The electricity generated, of solar (75%) and wind (25%) origin, is integrated into Galp's energy value chain, through the company's industrial, trading, and commercial activities. The unit also identifies, develops, and invests in business opportunities in the energy sector, such as hybridisation and storage.

Renewable energy portfolio

Galp is one of the main producers of solar energy in the Iberian Peninsula, with 2 GW of installed renewable generation capacity. This capacity reflects the acquisition, in the 2nd quarter of 2026, of a 351 MW portfolio of operational onshore wind farms in Spain.

At the same time, Galp is developing hybridisation and storage opportunities, using wind power generation and energy storage batteries in solar parks. These projects enhance the competitiveness of the electricity produced, reduce its carbon intensity, and contribute to the resilience of the electricity system.
