Incident at Sines refinery utilities unit

On 17 January at approximately 9 pm a fire occurred at the utilities unit of the Sines refinery. The fire was brought under control by the industrial complex’s emergency response team, with no personal injuries or environmental damages.

In accordance with the terms of article 248 of the Portuguese Securities Code, Galp Energia, SGPS, S.A. (“Galp Energia”) hereby discloses the following information:

On 17 January at approximately 9 pm a fire occurred at the utilities unit of the Sines refinery. The fire was brought under control by the industrial complex’s emergency response team, with no personal injuries or environmental damages.

The fire was restricted to the utilities unit - an electricity and steam production plant that supplies Galp Energia’s industrial complex at Sines, with no damage to the refining processing units.

After a first evaluation, we anticipate that the refinery will remain shutdown for a period up to six weeks. Operations will be gradually resumed after that period.

Galp Energia’s insurance program covers business interruption, material damages and third-party liabilities. The economic impact of the incident, net of expected insurance reimbursements, will be disclosed as soon as possible.

The Sines refinery started operations in 1979 and has a crude distillation capacity of 10.5 million tonnes (220 kbbl/day).
