Approach to sustainability

Galp believes that it is well positioned for the future, guided by its sustainability commitments

Approach to materiality

The processes implemented ensure the identification and prioritisation of material topics. By evaluating these material topics, we are able to identify key aspects relevant to our stakeholders and to the Organisation. This assessment is based on:

  • Understanding trends and emerging issues;
  • Integrating the values, policies and commitments of the Company;
  • Analysing internal and sector performance;
  • Formally and periodically consulting stakeholders.

The materiality matrix

Our materiality matrix organises and prioritises various key aspects, taking into account the perspective of stakeholders and the Organisation. The objective is to align corporate strategy, reflecting our commitment to generating sustainable value.

Sustainable Development Goals

We consider the development of initiatives and projects that contribute to the promotion of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and that generate sustainable value, to be strategic, and we focus on those that have been identified as most relevant to the Company and to the Oil & Gas sector.

The SDGs adopted by the Member States of the United Nations in September 2015 succeed the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and establish the global agenda for development until 2030, by means of a set of goals to be achieved.
