My journey at Galp

2010 – 2011 | Trainee

I arrived at Galp in 2010, when I was part of the Trainee Programme. I spent my first six months in the Integrated Margin Management area, which does all the refining planning. There I acquired important technical knowledge of how the refining process works.

In the second half of the internship, I worked within Oil Supply and Trading Operations, this allowed me to work with many teams including Product Trading, Crude Oil Operations and Optimisation and Control and also ended up shaping my future in the Company.

2011 – 2012 | Supply and Trading – Crude Oil Operations

After working as a trainee, I kept working in Oil Supply and Trading Operations, namely in Crude Oil Operations.

For about six months I worked with crude oil cargo operations, which at the time meant working with Purchasing.

2012 – 2015 | Supply and Trading – Risk Management and Optimisation

In 2012, and still within Oil Supply and Trading Operations, I took the challenge of joining the Optimisation and Control team. This area is dedicated to reporting activities links the different activities of the Oil Supply and Trading universe.

During this period, the Optimisation and Control area went through several changes and began to develop new activities, having changed its name to Risk Management and Optimisation.

This presented me with new challenges, such as the derivatives backoffice work or risk management, which led me to acquire new knowledge on themes such as financial markets and credit risk management.

“Even though I was in the same area, I did many different things and I always acquired new knowledge that turned out to be necessary.”

From 2015 to present date | Oil Supply and Trading Operations Manager

In 2015 I became the Oil Supply and Trading Operations Manager.

Although I’m still in the same area within Galp, this new role brought a completely new dimension to my work – managing people and I became responsible for four teams.

As Operations Manager, I’m also involved in several pioneering projects, for example, the implementation of the new Trading system, Allegro, which will mark a new era in this area.
