Upstream | Galp 58 - All-Electric Well Completion System

Galp 58 is developing an all-electric well completion system designed to improve operational reliability and production management by replacing traditional hydraulic valves used in offshore wells.

The Galp 58 project focuses on the development of an all-electric well completion system, designed to increase operational reliability and efficiency in offshore production systems.

Traditional well completion systems typically rely on hydraulic valves to control flow and ensure safety. This project aims to replace those systems with fully electric components, including an electric subsurface safety valve (eSSV), an electric inflow control valve (eICV), and an electronic subsea control module (eSCM).

By shifting to electric systems, the project seeks to improve precision in flow control, reduce mechanical complexity, and enhance reliability in subsea operations.

The project includes the design, development, and qualification of the complete system, covering conceptual engineering, prototype manufacturing, inspection procedures, and extensive qualification testing. Functional testing of components and subsystems is currently underway, with the project progressing toward higher technology readiness levels.

Once validated, this solution has the potential to significantly improve well performance, simplify subsea architectures, and enhance production management capabilities.
