Industrial | Galp 78 Bahia H₂ Green

Galp 78 is testing an integrated pilot platform for decentralized green hydrogen production and applications, enabling research across mobility, storage, ammonia production and industrial use cases.

In partnership with SENAI and Hytron, the Galp 78 Bahia H₂ Green project is an integrated R&D pilot designed to explore the potential of decentralized hydrogen production and its applications across multiple sectors.

The initiative combines renewable power generation, hydrogen production, storage and utilization in a compact pilot system that enables real-world experimentation across the hydrogen value chain. The platform integrates a PV plant, battery storage, hydrogen production and pressurization systems, a hydrogen refuelling station (HRS), and dedicated laboratories for combustion and ammonia research.

Through this infrastructure, the project supports multiple lines of research covering hydrogen generation, storage technologies, mobility applications, ammonia production and industrial combustion testing. The pilot also enables experimentation with hydrogen certification methodologies and distributed energy system integration.

By bringing production, storage and application into a single experimental environment, Galp 78 provides a flexible testbed to validate technologies, operational models and future business opportunities related to the hydrogen economy.

The insights generated will support future industrial applications and help accelerate the development of scalable hydrogen solutions for mobility, industry and energy systems.
