Galp donated 5 tons of bottled gas to supply the 17 First-Line Hospitals Combating and Treatment of COVID-19 spread throughout the provinces of Mozambique.
This plan began in the field with the delivery of the first gas cylinders (LPG) in Maputo, with the distribution being extensive throughout the country and running until the end of the current month of April. Today, delivery will take place in the provinces of Sofala, Cabo Delgado, Nampula, Niassa and Zambezia.
The protocol between Galp and the Ministry of Health (MISAU) was concluded between the National Director of Health, Ussene Hilário, and Francisco Ferreira, operational manager of Galp Moçambique, covering the priority health units identified by MISAU.
This activity follows several other initiatives to support the health sector and public institutions in the fight to prevent COVID-19 developed in the provinces of Cabo Delegado and Nampula, especially those that were promoted in partnership with the NGO for Development HELPO.
In this context, community awareness actions were carried out in 16 reception centres in both provinces, covering more than 70 thousand people, including children and young people, as well as various health unit users and beneficiaries of nutritional rehabilitation programmes.
This support also includes the distribution of hygiene materials such as: soap, bleach, buckets with taps, masks, ultra-red thermometers and disposable gloves. Activities are also carried out to raise awareness among populations and employees at reception centres for the care to be taken in relation to personal hygiene and space.
As soon as the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, Galp took restrictive measures concerning personal contact at a global level, including in Mozambique. However, the filling stations remain operational and unrestricted, as do all their operational activities. However, all hygiene and cleaning measures for the most critical areas of contact with customers have been redoubled.
