QSP Summit 2025 - “How to Make Innovations a Reality in Portugal"
During QSP Summit 2025, Manuel Andrade, Head of Open Innovation at Galp, moderated the Galp Special Session titled “How to Make Innovations a Reality in Portugal.” The session was structured as an ecosystem conversation - designed to translate “innovation talk” into actionable approaches that companies, startups, and institutions can execute.
The panel intentionally mixed perspectives across the innovation pipeline: Benedita Aires (VdA), Diogo Teixeira (Beta-i), Inês Santos Silva (TejoMed), and Pedro Ruão (Omniflow), alongside Manuel Andrade. Together they explored how to build collaboration models that respect startup speed while enabling corporate scale - addressing obstacles like procurement friction, pilot-to-scale handovers, legal complexity, and success measurement.
The key takeaway is that innovation becomes real when the ecosystem aligns on shared problem definitions, clear pathways to pilots, and credible scale mechanisms - not just when ideas are generated. The session reinforced the importance of practical collaboration between startups, corporates, innovation agencies, and enabling institutions to position Portugal as a competitive innovation hub.
