Startup World Cup Portugal 2025 - Galp shares open innovation & pilot-to-scale cases

At Startup World Cup Portugal, Marco Ferraz joined the “Startup Boosters” panel on how corporates power innovation and Galp shared pilot-to-scale collaboration cases and its open innovation approach.

At Startup World Cup Portugal, Marco Ferraz (Galp) joined the panel “Startup Boosters: How Corporates Are Powering Innovation” alongside leaders from Grupo Brisa, Fidelidade, and Unicorn Factory Lisboa, discussing how large organizations can partner with startups without losing the agility that makes startups valuable.

In addition, Galp’s participation included a keynote by Filipa Monteiro Martins and Cláudia Varandas highlighting renewable energy priorities and the importance of open innovation—showing how to move from pilot to operational scale. The keynote referenced a concrete collaboration example with Jungle, using AI to anticipate failures and optimize operations in solar plants, reinforcing the “innovation-to-impact” narrative with real implementation.

Overall, the event positioned Galp as an active ecosystem player: contributing to the national innovation conversation, showcasing collaboration playbooks, and reinforcing how open innovation accelerates the energy transition when it is structured for execution, measurement, and scale.
